A Complete Guide in 2025

The National Oceanographic Museum in Nha Trang is an essential stop for visitors interested in marine biology and ocean sciences. Home to Southeast Asia's largest repository for marine research, this institute boasts stunning aquarium displays as well as unique artifacts from their collection.

This museum not only showcases live fish in aquariums, but also giant samples of rare marine life like an 18-meter long humpback whale skeleton and Dugong (sea cow) remains.

Oceanographic Museum

The National Oceanographic Museum Nha Trang provides visitors with an educational experience about ocean life and ecosystem. With world-class facilities and collections that attract many tourists each year, this 100 year-old institution is one of the city's must-see attractions.

This facility includes several exhibition rooms that showcase marine biodiversity and rare species' remains preserved in formaldehyde solution, as well as collections of marine geological samples from different ocean regions, along with an artificial reef showroom.

In addition to exhibits, the museum also boasts lakes and aquariums resembling miniature oceans, featuring over 300 typical sea creatures such as sharks, squids, and other fish. This system follows an ecological model and divides ocean areas to help visitors understand its collection easily.

Even though the museum exhibits are captivating, to avoid crowds it is best to arrive early in the day and visit early during peak seasons when reservations for Vinpearl Land and National Oceanographic Museum may need to be made in advance. Since both attractions are far apart it may also be best to book them separately as visiting both attractions on one day can leave you too tired for proper exploration of both attractions.

King's Garden

At the heart of Copenhagen lies one of Denmark's oldest royal gardens: Denmark's King's Garden is one of its oldest royal gardens, dating back to early 1600s design and now popular among visitors and locals alike. Additionally, this site hosts Rosenborg Castle as well.

The garden is an unparalleled horticultural treasure trove, filled with lush landscapes, statues and the iconic Hercules Pavilion. Additionally, it serves as a venue for concerts, lectures and workshops and boasts an abundance of trees and plants from all around the globe.

Visitors to the garden can explore its layers of horticultural history while enjoying beautiful flowers and witnessing how its usage has evolved over time. It provides a relaxing setting along its brick pathways with many historical details to see and discover.

The King's Garden strives to restore herb-rich meadowland and diverse farmyards, which are crucial components of biodiversity. Inspired and driven by their inspiration of Godwit bird's near extinction in Netherlands, their aim is to bring people together through restoration work in their local communities while increasing mutual understanding between farmers and non-farmers.

Nha Trang Aquarium

Nha Trang Oceanographic Institute is one of the city's greatest gems; a research center and museum dedicated to marine science as well as celebrating Nha Trang culture, traditions, and heritage.

At the aquarium, visitors can view an impressive array of marine creatures such as coral species, sea urchins and sharks. Furthermore, visitors can access a museum that exhibits preserved fossils as well as specimens from rare marine creatures.

The Aquarium of the Seas features seven themed sections, each one dedicated to specific ocean ecosystems or marine biodiversity. Exhibits have been carefully designed for optimal visual aesthetic and engagement to attract visitors of all ages.

At the museum, there are a range of other exhibitions worth seeing beyond aquariums. One such attraction is the fossil ship. Based on an ancient fossil ship of 60 meters in length and 30 in height, its deck boasts a cannon and mast so visitors can witness Nha Trang seascape from above.

Bus line 04 makes traveling to the Nha Trang Oceanographic Museum easily and takes around 45 minutes from city center to reach it.

Research Facilities

The Museum boasts many facilities and collections that showcase tropical marine creatures like reef sharks, turtles, living corals, anemones, puffers and lion fish - many of them rare species. Additionally, an 18 metre whale skeleton can be admired within glass boxes or aquariums for visitors to admire.

This famous attraction can be found at 1 Cau Da Street near Cau Da port in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa Province. Established during French colonial rule under the name Indochina Oceanographic Institute of Fisheries, then later on Indochina Oceanography Museum, it became an attraction worthy of consideration today.

Today, it has become one of the leading marine research and archival centers in Vietnam and South East Asia, while also acting as an attractive tourist destination.

Alongside its world-class facilities, the museum is also dedicated to marine conservation. A member of the International Council of Museums, it specializes in promoting Vietnamese marine biodiversity culture and art as well as raising public awareness on protecting seas and ecosystems. Furthermore, researchers use it as a reliable address to expand their knowledge on Vietnamese maritime space, territorial waters, and marine environments.
